Celebrating Student Excellence

Meadows School Hosts Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony and Meadows Fest

Meadows School Prize-Giving Ceremony and Meadows Fest were held together for the 1st time on Thursday 18th July. The event, which began with the Prize Giving Ceremony in the school's gym, was a heartwarming celebration of student achievements and academic excellence. The event, attended by students, parents, teachers, and governors, recognised the outstanding accomplishments of the school's students across various curriculum areas.

The ceremony began with a welcoming address from Principal Ed Reilly, who praised the students for their dedication and hard work throughout the school year. "Today, we celebrate not just academic success, but the core values of, kindness, respect and resilience that each of our students has demonstrated" .

One of the standout moments of the ceremony was the presentation of the prestigious "Principals Cup" award to a 6th Form pupil who has excelled both academically and in extracurricular activities. The acceptance speech delivered by the pupils' parent was both moving and a wonderful testimony of all that Meadows School has to offer.

The prize-giving ceremony honoured students in various categories, including academic excellence, sports achievements, college achievements, resilience and change over time. Some notable awards included:

  • The Governors Award: A year 7 pupil-awarded for the highest number of Special Mentions achieved throughout the academic year.

Each award was presented with a personalised medal or trophy and certificate, citations were read recognising the unique contributions and talents of the recipients. The awards, were met with enthusiastic applause from the audience, adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the day.

The afternoon continued with a Meadows Fest where attendees had the opportunity to mingle and celebrate the accomplishments of the students. The attendees were invited to a BBQ lunch and salad prepared by the catering company and the Food Studies department with the support of some year 9 students of whom we are incredibly grateful for their contribution to the event.

The festival had a relaxed atmosphere with staff, parents and pupils enjoying the glorious sunshine. The audience were able to listen to students performing and take part in the many activities taking place on the school field to include: face painting, henna, and fancy dress to name just a few.
