School Community
Our school community doesn't just consist of our current pupils and teaching staff but also encompasses a number of different groups of people including governors, non-teaching staff, parents and former pupils. Everyone works hard together to help create a friendly, supportive and challenging learning environment.
Pupils
The pupils are at the heart of our school community. At Meadows School we recognise the unique worth of each of the pupils and support them on their learning journey to develop their talents to the full.
Teaching staff
A team of experienced teachers are responsible for subject areas and individual tutor groups. Regular staff meetings ensure all teachers are aware of all pupils and their differing needs.
Learning support assistants aid the teachers in the classroom, ensuring appropriate ratios of staff: pupils and supporting individual learning needs.
Non-teaching staff
There are a number of non-teaching staff working at the school. The Pastoral team help provide specialist pastoral support pupils.
Other non-teaching roles include the maintenance team, administrative and domestic teams.
Governors
Meadows School's Governing Body brings together community Governors, members of staff and parents/carers to oversee the school's activities. For more information on our Governors please click here
Governors have responsibility for determining, monitoring and keeping under review the broad policies, plans and procedures within which the school operates. They are not involved in day-to-day management issues.
Parents/Carers
We work in partnership with parents and carers and keep them informed about the activities, achievements and events which take place at Meadows School.
Parents and carers are encouraged to play an active part in the role of the school, with regular activities and progress reviews to which parents and carers are invited.
Please find any parent/carer information here
Barnardo's
Meadows School is run by Barnardo's the national children's charity. Our founder Thomas Barnardo believed that with the right help, children can change their lives and achieve their potential. He promised to support those children in need of help - regardless of their circumstances, gender, race, disability or behaviour. Barnardo's today continues to honour that promise. To find out more about Barnardo's please click here or go directly to www.barnardos.org.uk
School-leavers
When pupils leave the school they often arrange to revisit the school and come back to update staff on their progress. Members of staff also contact ex-pupils regularly to find out how they are doing and offer further careers information if applicable. Find some student and parent testimonials here
'I have enjoyed my time at Meadows School. Staff have been kind, helpful and persevered with me and provided a timetable to suit my learning needs and style in a safe environment. Thanks to the support I have gained my GCSE's and I am now a more confident person.'
